Clinical Practice & Experience
Dr Stephen Morley trained at the Kings College Hospital London and qualified in 1993. After a medical rotation he specialised in clinical biochemistry and then trained as an Analytical and Clinical/Forensic Toxicologist. Dr Morley is currently the clinical lead for Clinical and Forensic Toxicology at the University Hospital Leicester.
Clinical Interests
Dr Morley has a broad forensics and clinical toxicology workload. He has a particular interest in post-mortem toxicology, cases involving drugs and driving, drug facilitated crimes, and those of murder and manslaughter. He is often instructed where there is a clinical treatment, such as insulin affecting function and possible leading to death, acting as an expert in two Court of appeal cases (R v Winzar and R v Norris (Campbell)), as well as cases of salt poisoning in children, dehydration, or where a clinical chemistry laboratory has not followed guidelines that have contributed to deaths.
