Medico-Legal experience

Mr Smith is happy to receive instructions from Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Smith has been a consultant at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital for 18 years.  HIs  clinical workload is divided approximately 1/3 fetal medicine (ultrasound scanning and invasive procedures), 1/3 labour ward, and 1/3 general antenatal care with a focus on multiple pregnancy. Mr Smith has co-chaired his Local Maternity and Neonatal System Board since June 2018 and is an Independent Clinical Advisor for the Ombudsman.

Clinical Interests

Mr Smith’s areas of clinical interest include fetal medicine, neonatal medicine, maternal medicine, ultrasound scanning and multiple pregnancies.

Management Experience

Mr Smith has been a member of his Hospital management board as well as Chief of Service for for the Maternity Directorate

Summary of Publications

Mr Smith has published widely in peer-reviewed journals.

Teaching & Training

Mr Smith is a trained OSCE assessor. Mr Smith is an Associate Professor at St George’s University School of Medicine and the University of East Anglia. Mr Smith lectures and perform clinical teaching for the undergraduate programme at the University of East Anglia. He also regularly has undergraduate students attached to his clinics. Mr Smith has lectured both locally and nationally on many aspects of Obstetrics and fetal medicine. Mr Smith has also taught on the regional MRCOG Part II course and the regional Basic & Intermediate Ultrasound Course.
