Medico-Legal experience

Martin is happy to accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant law firms to opine on all aspects of pre-hospital care.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Martin has been an Advanced Paramedic with the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) for nine years; prior to this he was a Senior Paramedic Team Leader. He is an expert in all aspects of pre-hospital care, providing assessment and treatment of a wide spectrum of patients utilising relevant evidenced based practice, local guidelines and protocols. He provides face-to-face and remote clinical advice to Senior Paramedics in relation to clinical care and alternative care in the community.

Martin is clinical lead for various specialist aspects of care, including major trauma and prehospital maternity care. This involves network liaison and pathway development. Where untoward incidents occur, Martin investigates, and provides constructive feedback to, staff and peers alike. He has an enhanced surgical and pharmaceutical skill set and is a safeguarding professional.

Clinical Interests

Martins interests lie in Critical Care and Enhanced Care, focusing on prehospital assessment and examination of paediatric and adult patients. He is dedicated to Prehospital Maternity Care and Obstetric Emergencies, with a strong emphasis on Decision-Making and Human Factors.

Management Experience

Martin is the lead for complaints and untoward incidents, and an investigator of serious incidents and events. He is expert in harm, risk and consequence, and provides recommendations, learning and outcomes to managers and peers. Martin is a passionate advocate of a Just and Open Culture. Martin is an operational commander within the Trust’s command structure with an on-call function. He is adept at the scene management role in multiple casualty and major incidents.

Teaching & Training

Martin is actively involved in education and training with numerous training events focussing on all aspects of prehospital care.
