In 1996, Mr Muir was appointed as Consultant Hand and Upper Limb Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital, the dedicated major trauma centre for Greater Manchester. Salford Royal Hospital is also one of the major teaching hospitals attached to the University of Manchester Medical School where Mr Muir is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery.
