Miss Hayes is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions.
Clinical Practice & Experience
Miss Hayes qualified with an BSc in Podiatry from the University of Huddersfield in 2008, followed by an MSc in Podiatry in 2016. Miss Hayes is currently employed as an Advanced Podiatrist at a Greater Manchester Teaching Hospital, where she has been a Lead In-Patient Podiatrist since 2009. Prior to this, she worked at the Calderdale Foundation Trust as a Band 5 Podiatrist for a year.
Clinical Interests
The diabetic foot and peripheral arterial disease. Any condition that threatens the lower limb.
Research Interests
Diabetic foot care, vascular disease and off-loading of diabetic foot wounds. Patient concordance and education.
Management Experience
In her current role, Miss Hayes has led significant change management initiatives notably steering the podiatry arm of the IT system implementation across MFT. Whereby she collaborated with a number of professionals including, nursing, medicine, surgery and microbiology, focusing on critical aspects like the accurate recording of patient ulcers and the integration of WIFI criteria.In 2022, Miss Hayes completed MFT’s Senior Clinician/Band 7 Team Leader course which incorporates the planning and delivery of a quality improvement project. The course content covered change management, coaching skills and problem solving. As part of this programme, she developed a 'Red Foot Symbol’, a behind the bed sign to prompt appropriate footcare for patients admitted with tissue loss to the foot which has now been implemented across the hospital.
Summary of Publications
Miss Hayes has recently written a chapter on the diabetic foot for the handbook of diabetes nursing soon to be published by Oxford University Press in 2025.
Teaching & Training
In her clinical role, Miss Hayes is involved with delivering high quality education and training to students, nursing staff and Allied Health Professionals (AHP).
