Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Mr Rammohan has been preparing medico-legal reports for a number of years. He has undergone his expert witness training. He is registered with APIL, AVmA, National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. He enjoys a full medico-legal practice representing both claimants and defendants in actions relating to both personal injury and clinical negligence. His Claimant/Defendant ratio split is approximately 90/10. He can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Rammohan has been a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the Wythenshawe Hospital; part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Wythenshawe Hospital since 2011. He is a specialist in minimal-access thoracic surgery having previously completed an international fellowship in minimal access thoracic surgery in Edmonton, Canada. He is a former President of the Royal College of Medicine, Cardiothoracic Section.

Clinical Interests

Mr Rammohan has a clinical interest in VATS lobectomies, VATS thymectomies, diagnostic lung and pleural disease, lung cancer, trauma and sepsis, surgical management of emphysema – endobronchial and VATS, endobronchial therapy for air leaks, cosmetic chest wall correction and airway interventions.

Research Interests

Mr Rammohan initiates and supervises several clinical research projects and quality improvement audits which have culminated in presentations at various national and international forums. These include the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Royal Society of Medicine, Cardiothoracic Section.

Summary of Publications

Mr Rammohan has published numerous scientific papers, articles and book chapters in peer-reviewed journals on topics including the role of thoracic surgery in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and surgery for mesothelioma/lung cancer.

Teaching & Training

Mr Rammohan is the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain & Northern Ireland (SCTS) Thoracic Surgery Deputy National Audit Lead. He is a Royal College Tutor and oversees the core trainees at Wythenshawe Hospital. He is a member of the Regional Training Committee in the North West for cardiothoracic surgery and sits on the Question Writing Group for the Joint Committee for the FRCS (C-Th) examination.
