Medico-Legal experience
Mr Durnian has been an expert witness in ophthalmology since 2013. He has undergone his expert witness training. Mr Durnian enjoys a full medico-legal practice representing both claimants and defendants in personal injury and clinical negligence actions. Mr Durnian holds weekly medico-legal clinics in Liverpool but is happy to travel in order to conduct home and prison visits. His claimant/defendant/joint ratio split is approximately 35:55:10 and he can usually turnaround reports within 6-8 weeks, sooner if required.
Clinical Practice & Experience
Mr Durnian has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2010 and Honorary Consultant at the Walton Centre since 2020.
Clinical Interests
Mr Durnian main clinical interest is in neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus but also maintains a practice in all aspects of general ophthalmology.
Research Interests
Mr. Durnian main research interest is the psychosocial aspects of strabismus and the benefits of its correction and he has published 32 peer-reviewed international publications.
Management Experience
Mr Durnian is currently the Training Programme Director for the School of Ophthalmology in Mersey overseeing the training of all ophthalmologists in training. Mr Durnian was previously the Chair of the Division of Ophthalmology at St. Paul's Eye Unit.
Summary of Publications
Mr Durnian has published over 30 peer-reviewed international publications, mainly dealing with the positive effects of squint surgery.
