Clinical Practice & Experience
Mr Webster was educated at Marlborough College and the University of Birmingham Medical School. After junior jobs in Birmingham Teaching Hospitals, including the Trauma Unit of the renowned Birmingham Accident Hospital, he was a Urology Registrar in Birmingham and the first Calman Specialist Registrar appointed to the West Midlands Urological training scheme. He undertook General Surgery training in Worcester and reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Plastic Surgery Department at St James’ Hospital in Leeds. Having completed UK Urology training, he was awarded a competitive Fellowship to work in Brisbane at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, a quaternary Oncology and spinal injuries referral and trauma centre providing training in Upper Tract Oncology and endo-urology. Mr Webster was appointed as a Consultant Urologist in 2000. From 2002 to 2016, Mr Webster practiced at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust in a team of 15 Consultant Urologists. He performed upper tract laparoscopic, robotic and open surgery in a practice of cancer, stones, and benign disease as well as general adult and Paediatric Urological surgery, both electively and on call. He assisted in developing the service of upper tract robotics and urological laparoscopy for the BCF Trust including nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, adrenalectomy, pyeloplasty, and renal surgery. At the end of 2016, Mr Webster was asked to transfer to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to assist in the development of their renal surgery robotic program. In 2022, Mr Webster stepped a side from full time clinical NHS practice to focus on his private practice but he still has an Honorary Consultant Contract at Oxford where he works on an ad hoc basis to assist their service delivery and advise and teach.
Clinical Interests
Up until 2022, Mr Webster had a clinical practice in general adult and paediatric urology. His main interests include renal surgery, kidney robotics and laparoscopy, prostatic enlargement (BPH) treatment with urolift, holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HOLEP), transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP and prostatic artery embolisation). He also has a large practice in scrotal sand penile surgery including adult and paediatric medical circumcision. In addition to his duties at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, in 2012, Mr Webster was asked by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to perform their upper tract surgery. From 2013, he performed robotic surgery at the Royal Free Hospital. He has undertaken more than 400 renal laparoscopic and robotic operations by both transperitoneal and retroperitoneal routes – nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy, adrenalectomy and pyeloplasty.
