Clinical Practice & Experience
Dr Solomon has over 20 years’ experience providing expert psychological assessment and intervention in both physical health and mental health settings. Dr Solomon is currently a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) and Lead for the General Medicine Psychology Service in the Clinical Health Psychology Department. Her Team supports individuals to cope with the psychological consequences of physical illness and injury, and she has a special interest in trauma and adjustment.
Clinical Interests
Dr Solomon routinely assesses a range of psychological and psychiatric problems, including:
- Depressive disorders;
- Trauma and stressor-related disorders (PTSD, acute stress disorder, adjustment disorders);
- Anxiety disorders (panic, specific phobia, social phobia, generalised anxiety disorder, health anxiety);
- Obsessive compulsive disorders (body dysmorphic, hoarding, hair pulling, skin picking, OCD);
- Addiction & substance misuse disorders;
- Bereavement & adjustment to loss;
- Chronic pain;
- Somatic symptom disorders;
- Occupational stress;
- Personality disorders; and
- Self-esteem problems.
Emma also has a special interest in adjustment to disfigurement and with appearance-related distress, which can result from injury, surgery or from a medical condition and its treatment.
As part of her NHS role Dr Solomon leads a psychology service providing expert psychological assessment and intervention to support the medical teams in the below areas: oncology, dermatology, surgery, rheumatology, critical care, diabetes, respiratory medicine, immunology, gynaecology and maternity, cardiology, haematology, endocrinology, urology, ENT, anaesthetics, and gastroenterology.
