Ms Mackenzie is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Ms Mackenzie qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2023 and is currently working towards her Level 7 Diploma. Ms Mackenzie currently works as a Palliative Charge Nurse at Springhill in Accrington where she is responsible for aiding proactive symptom control, utilising clinical judgement to identify conditions, managing wound care, and handling complaints and ensuring policies and procedures are followed.

Previously, as an Agency Nurse, Ms Mackenzie gained diverse experience across multiple healthcare settings including complex care units, mental health facilities, and nursing homes. Within this role, Ms Mackenzie worked to achieve a range of nursing tasks such as medication, administration, monitoring equipment, catheter care and wound management, adapting to varied clinical environments and patient needs.  

Clinical Interests

Ms Mackenzie specialises as an Aesthetic Nurse, with clinical interests in the administration, of a range of treatments including botulinum toxin and dermal fillers. Ms Mackenzie has extensive expertise in facial anatomy, contraindications and adverse reactions, ensuring the capability to prevent and manage aesthetic complications. 

Research Interests

Ms Mackenzie has specific interests in assessing complications secondary to aesthetic procedures. She is currently completing a literature review titled ‘Vascular Occlusion Management following Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers’. Her research aims to assess the efficacy of various treatment approaches, with an emphasis on enhancing safe clinical outcomes by minimising long-term complications. She is further covering research on how practise has evolved to reduce risks in aesthetic medicine, the legislative, professional, and ethical issues when advertising aesthetic procedures, the professional and ethical responsibilities of an aesthetic practitioner specific to patient consultations, and the psychological, social and moral factors of aesthetic medicine.

Management Experience

Ms Mackenzie has worked in private facilities as the charge nurse of various clinical units and nursing homes. She has been leading and supervising a team of Assistant Practitioners, Nursing Associates and Health Care Assistants. Her responsibilities included safe staffing, allocation, managing conflict and providing clinical guidance. She also played a key role in facilitating regular admission and discharges of respite care, as well as creating and updating care plans to meet individual patient needs.

Teaching & Training

Ms Mackenzie withholds foundation training in Medical Aesthetics, Cosmetic Dermatology and Preventing and Managing Dermal Filler Complications. She is currently training for her level 7 at The Harley Academy, London providing extensive training in administrating botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and hyaluronidase. She is gaining hands on experience and skills in cosmetic dermatology, including injecting polynucleotides, applying chemical peels and microneedling techniques. Her training requires running live clinics, whilst being mentored by aesthetic doctors and nurse prescribers. She is undertaking clinical scenario examinations regarding complications, to identify, treat and advise her clients.
