Medico-Legal experience

Mr Kneebone is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence actions.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Kneebone is currently an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)/Gastroenterology Nurse Consultant at a North West Hospital. Whereby he manages, coordinates, and improves the local IBD service, overseeing the care of over 2500 patients with IBD. He has established and runs autonomous clinics providing care to patients from pre-diagnosis and throughout their journey in the NHS, including treatment decisions.

In his role, Mr Kneebone also independently prescribes medication and has autonomous decisions regarding the initiation of new treatments including immunosuppression/biologics. Additionally, Mr Kneebone is also an independent Endoscopist and has performed over 750 diagnostic flexible sigmoidoscopies.

Clinical Interests

Mr Kneebone’s clinical interest is in the field of gastroenterology specifically IBD, having spent over 15 years in the field of IBD. Previously he has worked at a North West referral centre for IBD. Mr Kneebone has driven the agenda to improve outcomes for patients by benchmarking and improving quality and services, continually developing quality patient focused services in line with the national Quality IBD Service Standards, NICE Quality indicators, GIRFT.  Mr Kneebone ensures expert practice-influencing patient outcomes and experience as well as influencing the practice of other healthcare staff

Research Interests

Mr Kneebone is actively involved in three current clinical trials, was previously PI for a national study. He is also the lead for two Local Audits. Mr Kneebone is a sub-PI for a European clinical trial (SCOPE). He also presented a poster on IBD Control (PROM) at this year’s British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Conference, 2024.

Management Experience

As part of Mr Kneebone’s role as a Nurse Consultant he manages a team of 30 providing clinical, managerial, consultancy and professional leadership. (including the Liver team, Addiction team, IBD team, Nutrition team, Nurse endoscopists, BSCP team). Mr Kneebone supervises and participates in the investigations into complaints, risks or clinical incidents as they occur and provides written reports when required which include proposals and lead improvements to practice and service development.

Mr Kneebone had multiple research publications, including pharmacology sponsored articles.

Teaching & Training

Mr Kneebone’s current role involves delivering high-quality education to his peers, consultants and other members of the IBD Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). He also regularly presents at local/national IBD meetings. In addition to his clinical role, Mr Kneebone is an Honorary Lecturer at the Edgehill University. He is also currently working towards accreditation from CCUK setting up an IBD national module (level 7).
