Obstetric trauma refers to injuries that occur to the mother or baby during childbirth. For the baby, this can include birth injuries such as brachial plexus injury, skull fractures, or cerebral palsy. For the mother, it can involve tears or lacerations in the vaginal or perineal area, or more severe injuries like uterine rupture.
