Overview

Medico-Legal experience

Mr Lieberman has been providing medico-legal advice for a number of years. He is registered with APIL, AvMA, EWI, the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. Mr Lieberman enjoys a full medico-legal practice representing both Claimant and Defendant law firms in actions relating to personal injury and clinical negligence. He holds weekly medico-legal clinics in London, but is happy to travel in order to conduct home and prison visits.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Mr Lieberman graduated from St. Andrews University and the Manchester University in 1993. He holds a postgraduate MD (Thesis in Gynaecological Imaging 2002), and is fully registered with the GMC with two CCTs in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. Mr Lieberman undertook his Specialist Registrar training in General obstetrics and Gynaecology in North East London. He was a Clinical Lecturer at the Royal Free Hospital between 2003-2004, following which he undertook his sub-specialist training in reproductive medicine and surgery at the Barts and The London Hospital between 2004-2006. He was appointed Locum Consultant in Reproductive Medicine at the Guys Hospital in 2006-2007 and further appointed as a substantive Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Whittington Health Hospital NHS Trust in 2007.

Currently, Mr Lieberman is the Clinical Lead for gynaecology and the HFEA Person responsible for the Fertility Unit and lead for Menopause Services; he is a recognised Menopause Specialist by British Menopause Society, and Menopause Trainer (FSRH). In addition to his NHS commitments, Mr Lieberman runs a private fertility gynaecological private practice in London, which provides assisted reproductive techniques using IVF related technologies.

Clinical Interests

Mr Lieberman has a clinical interest in fertility (including IVF related technologies), menopause, premature menopause, fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), gynaecological ultrasound and gynaecological surgery (hysteroscopic/ laparoscopic/ fertility related). He also has a specialist interest in the fertility management of thalassemia patients and has published and lectured on this subject. Mr Lieberman is also accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians in both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, gynaecological ultrasound and management of the menopause.

Research Interests

Mr Lieberman began research as a medical student in the Department of Forensic Pathology at the University of Sheffield with Professor A Green; in a project describing the positions of sub-hyaloid (retinal haemorrhages) in infants who had suffered fatal non-accidental injuries. In the main, Mr Lieberman's research has been related to his MD thesis; undertaken at the Royal Free and University College Medical School under the supervision of Professor A MacLean. His research publications are a combination of nuclear medicine, gynaecological oncology and reproductive medicine.

Summary of Publications

Mr Lieberman has published peer reviewed articles in gynaecology, including gynaecological cancer and reproductive medicine. He is the co-author of a recent RCOG Greentop guideline on the management of Beta thalassemia in Pregnancy (https://www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/gtg_66_thalassaemia.pdf) and he reviews manuscripts for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition, Mr Lieberman's thesis has produced presentations to national and international meetings, peer-reviewed journal publications and book two chapters. He has had a significant input into three presentations at ESHRE.

Teaching & Training

Mr Lieberman is actively involved in teaching.
