Medico-Legal experience

Dr Modi is Bond Solon trained and is happy to be instructed by both Claimant and Defendant law firms in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Modi is a Consultant Cardiologist and an Honorary Associate Professor at the Glenfield Hospital, University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust. He is also an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at UCLH, London, and a Private Sector Cardiologist at the Spire Hospital (Tollerton), the Nuffield Hospital (Leicester), and The Harley St Clinic (London). Prior to this, Dr Modi was a Post CCT Interventional Cardiology Fellow at the Barts Heart Centre and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist University College London Hospital. He also has an award winning PhD from King’s College London.

Most recently, Dr Modi has set up a regional Post ACS Secondary prevention service that has become an NHS Blueprint pathway nationally. He has also set up a Microvascular Angina and Refractory Angina Service, together with a coronary sinus reducer programme in the region. Dr Modi is nationally recognised expert in all aspects of Adult Cardiology and particularly in relation to Coronary Artery Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Angina and Heart Attack Care.

Clinical Interests

Dr Modi has a specialist interest in coronary intervention and investigation and management of chest pain with angiography and angioplasty/stenting and perform over 250 procedures each year with excellent outcomes. He regularly utilises the latest tools to optimise patients’ outcomes and is a recognised national expert in using specialist angioplasty tools such as intracoronary physiology and imaging. Dr Modi is nationally recognised expert in all aspects of Adult Cardiology and particularly in relation to Coronary Artery Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Angina and Heart Attack Care.

Management Experience

Dr Modi is an Associate Medical Director in Innovation and Improvement at University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust. He has also led and founded The Glenfield Chest Pain Centre 23/24, a regional ACP led hub for management of patients with chest pains and ACS and a test bed for digital healthcare solutions. This has improved patient outcomes, increased outpatients capacity and reduced emergency admissions. Dr Modi also has a lead role in rota design and workforce planning across the Barts Health NHS Trust during the COVID-19 crisis of 2020.

Summary of Publications

Dr Modi has co-authored 35 peer reviewed publications in High Impact Journals (18 as the first author) and has produced 30 abstracts resulting from National/International presentations. These include medical articles on angina, outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary physiology and management of patients with heart failure.

Teaching & Training

During his Cardiology training, Dr Modi did research in Cardiovascular and Coronary Physiology, which was funded by a prestigious British Heart Foundation fellowship. This gained him an award winning PhD degree from the St Thomas’ Hospital and the University of London in 2018. Dr Modi is currently a longstanding tutor on the Ealing MRCP PACES Course, Harefield ALERT Course and Barts IMPACT Course. He has also designed and ran regional teaching programmes for medical students and was rewarded with ‘UCL Top Teacher Award’. Dr Modi has designed and led several audit projects leading to documented change in practice in every post to date.
