Ms Barbara Whittaker

Ms Whittaker qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1993. Following this she received a critical care Diploma in 1995 which included an Accident and Emergency module. In 2007, Ms Whittaker graduated from Lancaster University with a BSc (Hons) Nurse Practitioner degree and following this completed a MSc in Advanced Practice Health and Social Care at Bolton University.

Ms Whittaker has worked in Accident and Emergency Department as a staff Nurse, also as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Medical Practitioner. Ms Whittaker has worked within various establishments gaining valuable experience within her Nurse Practitioner roles becoming Clinical Nurse Lead at the Bolton Urgent Treatment Centre from 2010 – 2012. She then became an Advanced Practitioner/Lead Minors Nurse at the Accident and Emergency Department at the Royal Bolton Hospital before her current position as Nurse Consultant in the Emergency Department where she is clinical lead for the advanced practice team and is also involved in the operation and management to support the Trust and improve quality along with working clinically with both adults and paediatrics.

Ms Whittaker is passionate about Advanced Practice and has expertise in Emergency Nurse Practitioner skills, advanced practice in the Emergency Department and Primary Care.
