Dr Heyes graduated from University of Birmingham in 2009 with honours. He completed his foundation training in the UK in 2011 before moving to Australia to work in Emergency Medicine. He returned to the UK in 2013 and completed his core medical training and subsequently a Lung Transplant Fellowship at Wythenshawe Hospital in 2017. After commencing Specialist Respiratory Training in the North West he obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training ( CCT) from the Royal College of Physicians in 2022.
He has been a substantive Respiratory and General Medical Consultant at North Manchester General Hospital since 2022. This role includes general medical on calls, Respiratory in-patient work, pleural and lung cancer clinics. Dr Heyes has procedural expertise including; flexible bronchoscopy, Endobronchial ultrasound, pleural aspirations, chest drain insertion, indwelling pleural catheter and medical thoracoscopy. Dr Heyes is a member of the Great Manchester Lung Cancer committee and diagnostic subgroup aiming to promote early diagnosis whilst standardising care across the region.
Clinical Interests
Dr Heyes has procedural expertise in flexible bronchoscopy, Endobronchial ultrasound transbronchial needle aspiration, Seldinger chest drain insertion, surgical chest drain insertion, thoracic ultrasound, indwelling pleural catheter insertion and local anesthetic medical thoracoscopy.
