Medico-Legal experience

Ms Midgley is happy to take Claimant and Defendant medico-legal cases.

Clinical Practice & Experience

Ms Midgley is a lead clinical prescribing pharmacist with over ten years experience managing medicines in the acute care setting. She has expertise across a variety of specialisms including acute medical, surgery, and intensive care medicine. She has held various roles, which have included providing care for transplant patients, critically ill patients, as well as providing care within emergency departments.

Clinical Interests

Ms Midgley’s clinical interests include, pharmacology, therapeutic drug monitoring, drug interactions, prescribing medicines where cautions or special warnings apply, pharmacological management of overdose, side effects, prescribing, dispensing, checking processes including controlled drugs, medical and non-medical prescribing, issues relating to medicines during the transfer of care, management of supply issues, covert medicine administration and clinical pharmacy practice in secondary care.

Management Experience

As a lead pharmacist, Ms Midgley manages a team of pharmacists delivering services to the emergency areas within a large acute teaching hospital. Ms Midgley has also lead on the implementation of critical medication related initiatives, such as Covid-19 protocols as well as delivery quality and safety initiatives. She has also undergone leadership training.

Ms Midgley has publications including research into the educational provision for improving the prescribing of junior doctors: A national survey. 2015.

Teaching & Training

Ms Midgley teaches pharmacy undergraduates at the University of Manchester as well as training junior pharmacists, doctors and nurses within the NHS. Ms Midgley also holds an ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching.
